Heisman Trophy Winner Lamar Jackson visited Companions In Courage Lion’s Den at the Mt. Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital to virtually visit with young patients all over the country. Founded by NHL All-Star Pat LaFontaine, Companions in Courage offers children in hospitals a chance to have fun, bond with other patients, and visit with celebrities. Spotlight On: Walk for Water & Island Harvest

250 amazing third graders from Jackson Avenue School in Mineola, NY carried a gallon of water a mile to learn what other children have to endure for just a bit of clean water. They donated the water to Island Harvest Food Bank, as part of Feeding America. We then followed the donated water to the first of many, many stops to people in need at the Hempstead Senior Community Center and spoke to the seniors there about what the water means to them. The water will also be divided among shelters, those living outside, veterans, and children’s agencies in Long Island.

The famed Real Housewife with a heart Aviva Drescher shines her spotlight brightly on the cause of life with a prosthesis, her work with new amputees, and the wonderful organization that is the One Step Ahead Foundation. This organization offers outings, outreach programs, and activities for young amputees. Founder Amy Palmiero-Winters is an impressive athlete after losing her left leg below the knee in a motorcycle accident. She has made it her mission to give children with physical disabilities positive experiences through sports to build confidence, courage, and friendship, increase self-esteem, and create a better sense of self-worth all while giving them a positive experience they will use throughout the rest of their lives. Aviva also works with A Step Ahead Prosthetics, which provides limbs for new amputees. Aviva spoke candidly of her own experiences, her time on reality television and why the “best part of it all” is giving her a voice for others. Aviva also speaks of the new law in NY which allows insurance to pay for only ONE limb per lifetime. She urges us to sign the petition and make a difference.
